I have two bunnies who are sisters that have never been separated. They just turned six months old. They live in an extra large dog crate. The other day I was in a pet store and a lady saw us shopping for rabbit food. She started asking if we had bunnies, and then she started telling us about her bunny. Her daughter has a bunny but she isn’t paying attention to it at all. She asked us to take her bunny because it wasn’t fair to the bunny that it got no attention. I told her I would consider it. She doesn’t know how old it is, if it’s a boy or girl, or what breed it is. From the pictures it looks between 5 and 7 pounds. My two bunnies are each 3-4 pounds. I don’t know whether or not it would work. These are my first bunnies so I am still learning about their care.

          Are your bunnies spayed?

If you bring an unneutered boy into your house it could end up with both your girls getting pregnant.

Whatever it is, it is likely to cause problems between your existing two. Often smelling and seeing another rabbit can cause fights between bonded pairs. My own bonded pair had a fight when I brought home a 3rd rabbit. It really is a very big risk, and unless you can afford to get all three spayed and neutered, they won’t be able to live together.

I agree with S&L, especially if your girls aren’t spayed. If their hormones haven’t kicked in yet, you are very lucky because unaltered bunnies can fight really violently, and without warning, which is why most people on this forum would recommend separating your girls before anything like that happens (until after they are spayed). They could also likely fight after their spay surgeries due to the leveling out of hormones. So bringing a third bunny into the mix might not be the best idea. Especially because after they have all been fixed, you need to be sure that you can deal with three separate bunnies, as initial pairs can sometimes split when bonding a trio.

Okay thank you. I will look into the prices of vets near me to get them spayed

Cocoa, I don’t mean to be rude, but in your other thread it’s clear that your parents aren’t helping you sufficiently with your bunnies, and your current bunnies don’t have adequate space or attention. I really don’t think adding a third bunny to your set up would benefit anyone. It’s kind that you want to help him, but it’s not your responsibility, and it wouldn’t be best for your current bunnies.
