So my bunny Cookie HATES being picked up. I’m okay with that, but sometimes I need to pick her up and take her somewhere else. But as soon she notices I am not just petting her and I am trying to pick her up, she runs away. And I am really afraid of picking her up and accidntally hurting her, or making her kick out her back. She’s a very active bunny, and never stays still for long. Any tips?

One of my boys, Asriel, acts like you’re throwing him out of an airplane the second his front paws leave the floor. If you need to transport, the litter box method is usually the best/easiest, as most bunnies won’t want to hop down while they are up high and moving. I use this for both of my boys and it has never failed to work. We call it the bunny elevator

Wow that sounds cool. I’m gonna try that, thanks a lot. Do you have any other tips though cause she doesn’t like me touching her stuff?

Lol sounds like someone needs to be spayed soon xD
Neither one of my boys has ever been fussy about their stuff being touched, so not really. You could try her carrier because she uses it less but it might make her stressed to feel confined.

At first, I used treats to lure Luna into the carrier, leaving the door open and the carrier on the ground. Then, after awhile I would shut the door behind her then immediately let her out. Now, I still have to use treats to lure her into the carrier , but I can at least get her in there, and from there pick up the carrier.

Lol….the way you members describe things, cracks me up. Asriel and Bombur…”One of my boys, Asriel, acts like you’re throwing him out of an airplane the second his front paws leave the floor.”

                  Love it…I keep laughing.

It may be the way you pick her up. I just didn’t learn to pick up our little girl like Janice. So when I would and she realized this person who is not supposed to be picking her up was indeed picking her up….she wasn’t being calm about it….quite the opposite.

Janice would just pick her up with authority, without hesitation, and put her in a football hold with one arm and for whatever reason, Icey would just chill there, moving her head around, checking out the place from a different elevation. No struggling.

She didn’t hold her tight. I wish I had taken a picture when she was alive. Then I could show you.

But the elevator idea is a good one. Maybe some others can show you how they hold theirs. And again it could just be the firmness and confidence or lack thereof.

But make no mistake, she didn’t want to be picked up. It’s just when Janice did, she wouldn’t struggle. Now if Janice came at her in a ‘I’m going to pick you up stance’ or would say the magic words as she approached her, “Do you have a poopy butt?” Then Icey would make Janice chase her before getting picked up. It was always fun to watch.

Lol, yeah ], she’s actually getting spayed in two weeks.

Thanks for all the advice and I’ll try all of these out.
