        Hi guys,

Whiskey is shedding A LOT at the moment. Every time I brush her it isn’t enough! She’s not the biggest fan of being brushed either so I can probably do it for about 3 mins before she hops off. I try and do it as many times as I can throughout the day when shes just chilling and lets me. But it’s so bad I put her on my knee and when she gets off it looks like her entire coat is left my on legs! My black jeans looked grey/white!

        ANYWAY.

She’s sneezing a lot. I’ve taken her to the vet as she started about 3 weeks ago but that’s when she started shedding. It happened for about half an hour she was sneezing and then it stopped and nothing for weeks. Now it’s started again this week. The more she grooms herself the more she sneezes! She started getting white mucus and I wiped it away and got it all out of her nostril and she was fine no more sneezing that day. Then the next day after a long grooming session she’s sneezing again! Nose is clear then after grooming it’s all white and mucusy again! Clean it all out and shes fine again no more sneezing!

I’ve taken her to the vets and they’ve checked her all over and listened to her chest too and she’s fine. They’re especially worried after Gin died to they check her everywhere and I think they’re starting to realise that I may be in there every week but that’s because I knew something was wrong with Gin! (The specialist now thinks she may of had Coccidia and yes we are testing Whiskey to see if she has it or if she’s fine).

But yeah I was just wanting to know if Whiskey is fine and this can be a normal thing when Rabbits are shedding or if I need to worry and keep digging further! The vets are happy with her and think it’s just her getting fur up her nose but I’m just panic central all the time now since Gin!

        Thanks!

        Melissa

I recommend calling your vet and asking if an upper respiratory infection is a possibility. The discharge being white is a sign of an infection, and I am surprised this was not considered by your vet, leaning me to wonder if you can find another vet to treat this possible URI. Unless this is a symptom of coccidia I’m not familiar with.

If it’s a URI, it needs to be treated with antibiotics, paired with probiotics so your rabbits tummy does not get upset.
