Flea is turning into quite the character you guys. So because he’s hitting his sexual maturity and needs to be fixed, flea is being SO weird. My last bun was an unneutered buck, and he was great. I’ve dealt with many unneutered bucks and they’ve all been so different from flea. Lately, he’s been acting insanely bipolar. One hour, he’s loving on me, begging for pettings and cuddles, and then the next he’s running away from me, shaking and hiding in his hut. I took him out today (as I do multiple times a day) and he ran straight under the couch. He had his toys and his salad out ready for him, dogs and put away and everything, and he stayed under the couch. Wouldn’t move. I couldn’t coax him out with treats, I tried for almost an hour. Eventually he got scared enough of my voice and ran out towards his cage, but of course he decided to run down the hallway and hide elsewhere ??‍♀️
He run s from me almost every time he sees me, unless he’s in his cage or feeling good, but usually now he’s just going back into husband cage or running from me. He normally freaks to get out of his cage.
He’s being the weirdest thing lately, I mean I know he needs fixing, but he won’t be going for another two weeks. I miss my cuddle bun
90% of the time he wants nothing to do with me. Does anyone have any ideas on what I could do to help him feel more comfortable while also giving him his play time? I obviously don’t want to leave him in his cage until he gets fixed, because that’s not fair to him, but he seems to have little to no interest in anything right now. I’m starting to wonder if maybe the people I got him from weren’t so truthful about his life there. If this is true any idea should on how I could get him more comfortable and happy at least until he gets fixed?

Honestly, it could be his personality. I’ve had Asriel since the end of May, and he is very much the same way. It took months for him to open up. When he finally did he turned into the sweetest little lap bun. He goes through periods where all he wants is my attention and begs for nose rubs and chatters and flops near me, then he goes through periods where even walking by him puts him into a big tizzy and he won’t lay down again until I’m settled. Sometimes I rub his little snoot and he’s oh so happy, and other times he starts cowering. Asriel is very independent, shy, yet bold at times. So it really could just be personality.

Sorry for all the typos lmao, but maybe it is. I’m going to get him fixed, but the thing that throws me off is that when I got him, I spoke to both his breeder and precious owner (only seven months old) and they both said he was the sweetest, most affectionate bunny they’ve had. His breeder specifically remembers him because of his personality. He was also bred for personality :/
I’m thinking once I get him fixed I’ll just give it a couple months and if he hasn’t changed I guess it’s just his personality

Tbh I think the whole ‘bred for personality’ is a bit of a gimmick. You can’t guarantee specific personality traits.

I think I agree as well, but I spoke to his breeder who sent me photos and videos and said he was one of the buns that was hard to part with. He was so happy his first week or so here. I’m probably just going to leave him alone for a bit (when he’s out playing, not leave him in his cage) and wait until the end of the month when he’s getting fixed. I’ll probably just have to see how he’s acting after that
