I was thinking and the name Caroline does not really suit my rabbit. She does not know her name actually and I want to see if I can teach her to come to me when I call her name. I will need a short and more simple name for this and I was wondering if any of you have suggestions.

Caroline is a Netherland Dwarf rabbit Mix and she is pretty shy but also likes to lay next to people and receive food. She has licked me a couple of time. She actually licked me today when I hand-fed her veggies. She can be pretty bossy and pushy at some times but she is really just a sweet little furball who likes to sleep and lay down. That’s a little of her personality and please leave your suggestions below. Most likely I will choose one. Thank You!

          Cinna, Lily, Eiza, Tulip, Josie.

She’s so cute! I “officially” named my newest baby like 15 times before finally deciding on Leonora. Sometimes it’s hard to find the perfect name that captures their personalities well enough.

Those are all great names but they sound to sweet for her. She has a fiery personality and I do not want to give her a misleading name. If you have any suggestions though, Please share!

One to two syllable names with tough sounds (except hiss sounds; those are scary to rabbits) work well.

              Cookie
              Marble (like a marble cake)
              Frosting
              Bagel

              Nova
              Carrie
              Yuki
              Mina/Meena
              Mandee

                    I like Cinder!

Always been a fan of Lola for a girl (tribute to Space Jam ;p).

Carrie could be nice instead of Caroline?

Human names can be good for pets I think, if they’re playful enough. Sophie? Jessie? Bonnie? Penny? (you can tell I like -ie sounds haha)

@Wick didn’t even see you’d suggested Carrie too until I read back. Great minds!

Nova has a +1 vote from me too.

You know when I think about it, Caroline does not need a name change. Everyone I know already starts calling her that and she seems to be catching on. Sorry for wasting your time, Thank You. But if you know how to, please provide tips on teaching a bunny its name.

No worries EatSleepBunny, at least this thread made you realize you like her current name after all.

Wish I had some tips for you but I’ve never put in much effort to have my buns recognize their names, I kind of just let it happen naturally over time. And even then they don’t always respond to it lol. Good luck though.

For Luna, I used pellets (she thinks of them as treats). When I would call her name, I would simultaneously put my hand down and scratch the floor. Every time she came over, I would give her a couple pellets. After a while, she would come when I called her and motioned for her to come, without any pellets. Now, she comes when I call her without motioning to her.

Also, I haven’t used it myself, but I know a lot of members have used clicker training successfully to help their buns learn how to do new things.

I also trained my Luna the same way other Luna did

I would say her name every time I give her a small treat. Then she started coming whenever I say it, and I don’t always give her a treat.

Atlas is at least partially deaf, so haven’t been able to achieve it with him.

                                  I’m still working on Nimbus

I like Caroline. And Carrie is a good nickname for a feisty little bun!

I will try your method of training because she follows be around sometimes but mostly when I want her to stay.
