I recently welcomed a female 3 month old yorkie puppy into my home. I want her and my female 5 month old lionhead to eventually get along so I don’t have to keep them extremely isolated from one another. Does anyone have any tips or expiriences with this? Is it even possible for rabbits and dogs to be friends?

Hello! My mom’s dog is friends with my two buns! And my past bunnies got along well with my past doggies too. So it’s definitely possible! However my sister has a puppy and I don’t let the pup near my bunnies because she’s too hyper and isn’t trained enough.
What we did with my mom’s dog was put him on a leash and my bunny in an ex pen in the same room together. My bunnies didn’t show any signs of stress and the dog didn’t seem to really care about them. If he ever showed any signs of being too excited to see the bun we told him no. Later on we took the doggie off his leash and he did just fine and now him and the bunnies boop their noses together lol. Best of luck with your pup and bunny!

There’s lots of members here with dogs and rabbits, and they all vary in how they manage it.

Here’s a recent thread on it:

Basically you need to be very very careful, as they are inherently predator and prey, so it could go wrong very easily.

I agree, Although my rabbit and golden retriver puppy have never shown any signs of agression and are fine chilling together, I wouldnt try anything unless you are VERY sure of how your dog will react, or even your rabbit, A nip or growl is all it could take before someone gets hurt!
