I have to baby female rabbits named Nibbler and Georgie. I’ve read how its harder to bond two female rabbits, right now since they’re too young to be spayed we just do bunny play dates, neither live with each other and wont until they’ve been spayed. I was wondering if there were any tips on bonding a female pair, so that when the real bonding happens I’ll be prepared. As of now, they get along great, but I know when they become hormonal that wont be the case.

There’s no real reason why two females can’t bond

I would stop playdates, as the only way you’ll know when it’s time to stop them otherwise is if they have a fight. Unbonded bunnies can’t ‘play’ together, and it’s likely just a stressful experience for them. If they do have a fight, it will make them much harder to bond in the future, so I don’t think it’s worth the risk.

The best thing to do now is get them used to each others scents. So have them living next door to each other (with space between the bars so they can’t nip) and swap them between hutches every other day. Once they’ve both been spayed, continue the swapping for another month, then you can try introducing them on neutral territory. Hopefully because they’re used to smelling each other, they’ll have a calm first meeting.
