I use the plastic bottom of the cage I had when I first got xerxes in his pen to hold his litterbox in place. He loves to lay in it next to his litter box and I’m thinking he likes the feeling of the cool plastic instead of the carpet. I’ve ordered a new litter box (one that has a feeder attached) and want to get rid of the plastic bin when it arrives, but dont want to take away his cool ground. I’ve seen ideas of getting ceramic tiles that buns lay on to stay cool but am curious of he will chew them or if it is unsafe.

I think that will be something you need to observe. A lot of rabbits have those cooling tiles and don’t seem interested in chewing them (Wick included), but I imagine there may be a select few rabbits that try to destroy it out of nature.

If you find he’s chewing/ingesting it, definitely take it away. If he doesn’t show interest in doing so within the first day, it’s probably a safer bet to assume he’s safe to have it.

Rabbits chew things very thoroughly before swallowing, so if you catch him ingesting some, take it away, observe poops/pees, and encourage water and hay consumption so it works it way out.
