As we all know too well bunnies LOVE peeing on human beds… why? We will never know. BUT… Sprocket and I have made a breakthrough and we can happily report several months of no bed peeing.

Sprocket would pee on my pillow with my head on it in the middle of the night even after his neuter. He would pee all over my bed when I left for work… to say the least it was so bad that I had no Tide Pods to spare to eat.. (lol)

So it got me thinking… why the bed….is it the size? the smell? I mean the couch I sit on too and it is just as big and yet that was never affected… and why my pillow… it’s gotta be the softness…

So I took a big piece of sponge foam that you can put over the bed or in a tent when camping and I cut out a piece that matched the litter box. I wrapped it in puppy pads and now I put an extra puppy pad over it and on top of that I put the bedding/litter…I also for the first weeks closed the door to my room to not have the temptation of the super comfy bed. Then I closed the bedroom door only when I was away from home…and now…all doors open and no issues for months.

Ever since I made his litter box as soft as a bed he has been using it without issues and no accidents. YAY!

I just thought we would share this tip as one of the major things people get upset with their new buns is accidents when litter training and this has worked for us so we hope it can help some others.

        Love Sprocket and I

Congrats on solving the mystery! I would’ve never thought of that. That’s really interesting that he isn’t tempted to pee on the bed anymore even though he still likes peeing on soft things.

I guess it’s a combination…he wants to pee on soft things but he likes his spot with his smell. Also he he would always only pee on my bed but then hop off and poop in the litter box…a double trip….but why… we will never know..im just happy it works.
