My bunny’s sister just died sadly, and I haven’t noticed any huge changes in him. But, however I was holding him and petting him, and I realized his fur doesn’t feel the same as it used to. It’s very rough and feels kind of dry. It’s really hard to explain. What could it be though? He is around six or seven, so could it be old age? Please help me out, I’m really worried for my baby.

Hi Phantom, I’m sorry for the loss of your other bunny.

When one of my bunnies got sick and needed to be put to sleep, he couldn’t groom himself any longer, and I noticed that his fur felt different, and drier. When bunnies stop grooming themselves it can be a sign of another sickness. Do you know what his sister died from?

The other thing to consider is that he could be depressed after the loss of his friend. Is he eating and pooping? If he’s depressed he may have also lost interest in grooming himself.
