*Warning: pictures of growth/ tumor for those who don’t want to see*

Quite a few months ago I noticed a growth on my rabbits bum. Right above the rectum, where the penis comes out. It has grown a little since I first noticed it. I have been monitoring it, to make sure that its not a problem or painful. And  it is only attached from one side. He seems perfectly fine. He has a great appetite, eats and drinks regularly, poops regularly. No signs of pain or discomfort, and always acting like his normal little self.

I was wondering if anyone could tell me what it is? And if is a risk to his health? Is it a papilloma?

There are no good vet anywhere near where I live.

It’s very important to have that looked at. Is there no vet even within two hours of your dwelling? Wick has gone through 2 hr car rides fine.

I haven’t seen anything like this, so I don’t want to freak you out, but it really looks like something that needs to be addressed professionally.

Even if all health behaviors seem okay, that can change within minutes to something dire.

Typically when people say something is spotted there, it’s usually a testicle, but that does not look like one.

There are a few vets about two hours away. My main worry is that he will need surgery and right now I cannot afford it.

If he needs surgery, that’s something to prioritize, but fear for needing it shouldn’t keep you from going. A vet could recommend a way to manage it or make sure it doesn’t get worse until you can afford it. Additionally, they can give you an estimate. Generally with rabbits, the longer you wait, the more expensive it becomes.

I’ll make an appointment to get it checked out.

                Thank You

Best wishes to you and your bunny!! I hope it’s a good prognosis.
