Whenever I finish grooming or trimming my rabbit’s nail I carry them and feed them a treat as I take them back to their room. Lately they have been eating their treat while I am still carrying them. Does this mean they feel comfortable while I am holding them or is it weird if they don’t eat their treats while being held?

Generally, if you offer a rabbit a treat they will eat it. I’m not sure if you expect them to hold it until you put them down?

If they were terrified they wouldn’t eat the treat.

It’s been a progression from they won’t accept the treat, to they won’t eat while being held to eating while being held. I guess I’m just looking for confirmation that I’m doing something right. I’ve been seeing quite a few posts lately that have made me feel like I’m screwing up.

I think it’s more how tunnel visioned rabbits get with food. It does show your rabbits aren’t terrified of being held, but comfortableness can still be debated. Rabbits are so food oriented, haha.

You are doing great! Bunnies do not “prefer” being picked up- naturally i wouldn’t either if my gut instinct told me I was about to be eaten if my “four were off the floor”. However, the fact that they are taking the treat does mean they are comfortable enough and not terrified enough not to enjoy the treat. Doesn’t mean he is enjoying himself but he’s “tolerating it” LOL.
