I have an almost 3 months old little bun and she has fleas. I do have the Advantage spray for cats. I’m just worried of how much is “too much” to spray on her. I’ve only used it on her about two times and she didn’t react to it. Is it okay if I spray her with it once a day? If not, how often should I spray it on her? Most importantly, is it safe for her because she’s so young?!

Are you sure it’s fleas and not mites? I wouldn’t use it without going to your vet first to see what’s really going on. I also wouldn’t use it on her as she is such a young bunny, and generally the safest doses for them are the smallest kitten doses, but again that’s something you’ll need to see a vet about. They’ll probably do a skin sample under the microscope to make sure nothing else is going on. Either way, they’ll give you a dose of Revolution (which is bunny safe) or a shot of Ivermectin and make you go back for a second treatment a month later. My boys had mites and it worked wonders on him.

Hello! My 4 month old bun had fleas and mites and the vet gave him Revolution. I’m not sure about the dosage though. While I’ve heard people use Advantage for buns before I don’t think sprays are recommended for rabbits because they can lick it off. I would definitely recommend going to the vet to get the right medicine and dosage. Good luck!

Please be careful, the wrong flea treatment can kill rabbits. I really advise that you discuss it with a vet first.

Frontline is the one that is very dangerous to rabbits, but I’m not sure about the differences between advantage/revolution and sprays or not sprays.

Tbh these are questions you should be asking a vet.

If it really is fleas, Advantage can be bought OTC as a spot-on. It’s better than a spray. http://www.parasitepreventionprogram.com.au/productsavailable/rabbit-products/advantage-for-rabbits

As others have said, never use any compound containing fipronil on buns. Fipronil is the active ingredient in Frontline, Sentry, Effipro and several other anti-parasitics. It’s deadly toxic to bunnies.

If your bun has mites, Advantage won’t help. For mites you need Ivermectin or Revolution (selamectin). You need a vet to prescribe those meds. They are very bunny safe.
