Eye gunk to a certain extent can be normal, however regular eye gunk or quite decent amounts of it is abnormal. There are many causes, irritation to the eye, allergies, infection, even teeth issues. If you have sterile saline solution at home you can drip a little bit into her eye to rinse it out in case there’s something in there causing irritation, but do not wipe the eye as it can result in scratches.

If it persists I would look at scheduling a vet appointment for her, at the very least if it is caused by the fur hanging into her eye they can always trim it for you.

          I hope that helps

If it was sudden, I want to lean towards some kind of irritation. It could be she got something in her eye (hay?). But I would also be worried she scratched it. So definitely have it checked out if the gunk comes back.

Agree with the others. Maybe she just got a hair in her eye or something. But if it keeps occurring and/or eye irritation persists, have a vet check it out.
