Okay so I need some help! I just got my first bunnie he’s little I’m not sure how old but they woman at the store said I couldn’t feed him veggies or greens for another 5 months! Any guesses on his age ? That’s not the main problem tho he’s absolutely amazing!Addapted well and fast! Loves to lick you’re hand, forhead will even cuddle with you..But I’ve noticed the last two night’s that he’ll stare into the top left conner of his cage for about 5 to 10 seconds then leap up into the top left connor of his cage smashing his head into the top of the cage?! Why?! Is he okay?! Is he playing, dose he want out? I usually let him out when he dose this to try & stop him I don’t want him to hurt himself, Will he hurt himself if he continues to do this to an extreme? What should I do?! Or is he just a little baby playing around? Also should I leave a light on for him? Or do they prefer the dark? I read that they need 8 hrs a day of sleep and all about there sleep cycle but I just need a simple ” yes light on” or a “no lights off” help!

Baby rabbits shouldn’t leave their mothers until they are 8 weeks old, so hopefully he’s at least 8 weeks old. If you post a photo, we may be able to have a guess! I’m glad you’re enjoying having a bunny.

As you’re a new bunny owner, would you mind telling us what the rest of his diet is like? The core of a rabbit’s diet should be good quality grass hay, or alfalfa for babies. They should also have special young rabbit pellets while they’re young. You can start feeding veggies from 3 months-ish. People give different advice, but my vet advises me to start with little trial bits of greens from 3 months. Some people think you should wait until 6 months though, so it does depend on how the rabbit reacts to them.

It sounds like he’s trying to escape, and yes, he might hurt himself. Is the top of the cage covered? How much space does he have in it?

Rabbits can see in the dark, but not especially well. If it’s pitch black, I would leave a lamp on. I live in a city and the bunnies are in my living room, so I leave the curtains open which lets in streetlights at night, and then natural light in daylight hours

Let us know if you have any other questions!

A sheet on the top of the cage will reinforce that there’s a ceiling. It does sound like escape attempts where your rabbit doesn’t notice there’s a barrier. A visual reinforcement will help.
