Last night, when I was getting a treat for Thumper after I had finished brushing her, I almost stepped on poor Harley. I definitely applied pressure to one of his legs but he squeaked and got out of the way before any obvious damage was done. Harley is still eating and hopping around but I was wondering what other signs I should look for to try and find out if something is wrong.

Looking at overall movement for anything unusual would be a good idea. If you’re able to handle him, feeling around him to see if there’s any pain would be a good gauge as well. There may be residual fear from it as well, so keep his spirits up.

If there are any fluctuations in his energy level, poop, or eating, then a vet visit to check for damage may be required.

Bunnies getting underfoot and risking injury is always a real danger. When I go into the X-pen enclosure in the morning to put Panda and Fernando back in their condo and get their breakfast ready, I always have to be careful to make sure of their location and move slowly. The good news is that they’re learning that when I come into the enclosure at that time of morning, it’s time to go back into their house, so at least one of them almost always scampers back inside right away. I’ve bopped one or the another with my foot a time or two in the past, though, thankfully without injury, but I’ve always kept a close eye on them afterwards to make sure they’re not hurt.

Get him a hardness with a bell on it so you know where he is 🙂

It sounds like you did all the right things so far. Definitely keep an eye on him and I think Wick had great advice to check him over. It’s so hard to avoid these kinds of things when our rabbits just run in the way and are so fast.

I’ve started using the “bunny shuffle” – keeping my feet close to the floor and gliding around when Olaf is out, almost like ice skating. It’s embarrassing but I don’t worry as much about crushing him.

It’s definitely a valid concern. It’s drastically less now, but Wick has been literally kicked into walls/doors so much out of my carelessness and/or his general spazz. The first thing I say before “Hello” when guests come over is to watch where they step or I’ll never forgive them for stepping on my rabbit-child….

I’ve almost tripped over Sterling a couple of times. Especially when I’m in the kitchen. He just appears behind me, out of nowhere. I never had a problem with my little bunnies. Weird.
