Hey everybody! I am the brand spanking new owner of a mini lop bunny! I also own a dog, which means that Bug’s (my bunny) cage is up on a table. I was wondering how to move my bunny from his cage to the backyard or somewhere he can move around more and I can play with him. I was hoping to avoid picking him up, because he is still skittish, but to some degree obviously that will have to happen. Also, I don’t know if this would matter, but his cage has a 5 inch lip.
        What do you guys think?

A long ramp might work. Just make sure it has little ridges so it’s not slippy.

I’ve also seen cushioned bunny steps on instagram that look super cute! But might be a bit inconvenient.
You could also hold the carrier and try to entice him in into it. While my bunnies were at my parents for Christmas, that was my method for taking them for a run in the garden, but to be honest it was generally wildly unsuccessful and they would refuse to go back into it to be taken inside. So it depends on the bunny really

Take care if you take your bunny outside. Even a fenced in yard won’t keep out predators, and there is always the possibility that a rabbit can pick up external and internal parasites outside, plus they can nibble on plants that may be toxic.

These ideas work great- thank you guys! I think I’ll try DIYing a long ramp and entice him out with treats.

Outside is not the safest place for a bunny but if you take him inside most of the time you will be fine.
