I just got my new bunny, Flea, about a week ago. The first day I got him, I left him to explore his cage for a little while with his food, water, litter box, toys, and a nest of hay. I opened his cage after about an hour, and sat beside it letting him come to me I feel he wanted to. He did, so I gave him a quick pat, and continued this. After coming over to me a few more times he eventually started taking treats from my hand, but after a while he got bored and went for his hay. I left him for the night, and the next morning I just did all my normal daily rabbit chores for both my guys, and he was super alert and sniffing my hand with absolutely no issue. The third day I had him, he came and cuddled with me in much bed for hours. Today, the fourth day, I did the normal litter box etc chores for him, and put him in the hallway where he runs around while I clean. Today, he didn’t do much but run from me? Eventually he came up to me so I could put him back in his cage, but he wasn’t very happy about it.
Now, he’s decided to come sit on my bed, but he’s not interested in me at all. He wouldn’t even take a treat from much hand. He hopped up on my bed, and he stayed at the very end, just sitting there with his back to me. I ignored him, as I figured he would come check me out eventually, but he just sniffed me then quickly hopped away
Eventually he was comfortable enough to lay down, but not fully.
His previous owner told me that he wanted nothing more but to cuddle, Andy I’ve spoken to his breeder, who breeds for temperament. He was hand raised, and never shown this behaviour
Hes purring when he’s laying down comfortably (he’s a purring machine) and I know it’s not out of discomfort.
Could I have done something to offend him? Could he still be settling in?
Any tips to help with this? All I want is for my lil man to be happy
