I have a dog cage i am using to extend my rabbits cage and i had a rug in there (since i dont want her feet on the metal bottom since its cold) but she chewed it so i took it out. My parents said to use our mail ads that we dont need to put at the bottom of the cage, but wouldnt the ink harm her? I do not have any news paper, just mailing ads. She is litter pan trained and has unlimited hay and pellets, but is eating the mailing ads bad for her? also could i use printer paper instead? Also the cage isnt meshed on the bottom just a metal sheet. Could i also just leave the metal sheet plain or should i have some sort of bedding? i just dont want her getting cold with the metal bottom since its winter where i am.

If she has a litterbox, and does her business in it, bedding isn’t necessary. Honestly, a few millimeters of paper aren’t going to determine whether or not she’s warm enough. You’ll be fine with her just hanging out on the pan in the bottom of the cage. If the rest of the room she’s in is 65 and over, she’ll be good. Bunnies are more adapted to the cold than they are to the heat anyways.

          How old is she?

I agree, if she is litter trained then I don’t see any reason for having bedding on the bottom of the cage. If you are worried about her comfort you could put a fleece blanket in the cage. She will probably just dig around in the blanket and scrunch it up (that’s what Ophelia does) but at least she’s got the option of the fleece if she does decide she’s not comfortable.
