Hello again. So I have two male rabbits. One is 8 months. The other ten. Currently they are set up in the finished basement but are on opposite sides. They cannot see one another. Can I move them so that they CAN? I just don’t want them to have the initial time not being happy that there is another bun in the room. I can easily keep them the way they are. I just wasn’t sure if it would help or harm the situation thanks!

First of all are they neutered? I’m pretty sure male rabbits are pretty territorial if they’re not.

Not yet! The plan is to get them neutered. That is why they can’t see each other right now. I just wasn’t sure if I COULD have them so they DO see one another

Hi! Just need a bit more information to help you.

Are you currently trying to bond the two?

Have these rabbits ever met before? If so, any fights?

Hi! I’m not currently in process of bonding but that is the end goal. Neither of them are yet neutered but will be soon. They have not seen one another but I’m sure they know the other is there. My new bun, Otis, was kept between two other boys and they were spraying one another ? the woman said they were 3 inches away from each other though.

                  Ah ok!

I think that they are fine to see each other. You may notice some behavior changes at first like leaving piles of territorial poops or spraying, maybe some thumping or grunting. But they will have to be pre-bonded anyway, so I don’t think it can hurt to let them get acquainted now

If they’re in the same room then they most likely can smell one another so seeing each other would be fine.

Just make sure they can’t reach each other through the bars, and can’t get to each other during out of cage time

They are about two feet apart. They keep running around their pens and then just staring at each other. What should I expect?

                            Every rabbit meeting is different.

Some bunnies may thump their feet, grunt, or just generally be bothered at the presence of the other.

                            Some may be totally indifferent.

They are probably just a little spooked to be seeing another bunny, and it can kinda make them feel threatened. They don’t know what the deal is with this other bun. This is the whole reason that we have to bond rabbits and not just put them together. They have to learn that the other isn’t a threat and that they can live peacefully.

Ok! I appreciate the help! I’m just watching them. No thumping or grunting yet. Just one is running in circles around his bed, and the other is just watching ?

Well, now Otis is lounging in his play yard and Cecil is peeved at us! Boxing at us if we moved his toy! Oh boy! We’ve left them for a bit ( very separate) and I hope things go ok! Oh I’m a mess!

                                  lol that sucks.

When I brought home a male to bond with my female, she was soooo pissed. She would lunge at me from half way across the room and scratch my feet or box me if I tried to pet her. Eventually she calmed down. Maybe try putting a stuffed animal in each of their pens and switch the stuffy out like every other day? Then they can take their aggression out on the stuffy, but will eventually get used to the scent and stop attacking something that isn’t attacking them back

Them being annoyed is totally normal you have to get through the annoyed stage, but don’t worry

Ok! I just don’t want to disrupt the order of things. I know it’s all for the better! I appreciate all your help!
