  Hi Everyone,
  
  I have a 5.5 year old spayed female named Clover who has free range of the house. She has become extremely neurotic when it comes to her litter. It doesn’t matter if it’s freshly cleaned or several days old, she OBSESSIVELY kicks the litter out of the pan. She has a high sided litter box so you can imagine how it’s flying everywhere and making a huge mess. It doesn’t matter what type of litter I use, pellets, paper, carefresh bedding, she doesn’t discriminate and kicks it all. She isn’t just doing this every now and then, she does it EVERY time she’s in the litter box and she will hop out then hope back in between 5-10 times to continue kicking it. I have no idea how to correct this behaviour but it really can’t go on! Is it possible that the litter isn’t even the issue and she just does it for fun? If so, does anyone have any experience with this and how to keep her from doing it?

  Ugh you have my sympathy! Thor does the same thing.
  
  The only solution that worked for us was a litter screen! You can make your own, or they sell some online. There is one here in the BB store It’s completely solved the problem. Plus, you can lift off poops and soiled hay with the screen to make cleaning much easier!

  Also, I might suggest a dig box of some sort if you can. Maybe she just wants to dig and play? Ophelia has never done that in her litter box but I have given her a large sandbox inside ( RIP my poor, poor vacuum) and she really likes to jump around and dig in the sand.

  I just got some play sand at Walmart. She’s had this sand for like 6 months and I never noticed any issues. But you definitely want to get something with high sides- if not you will have sand all over the place I hide little things in the sand like some sisal rope tied in a few knots, a few toilet paper rolls half buried and she likes to yank them out of the sand lol.
