Super mad at my husband right now. . .

I give Ophelia hay twice a day, once in the morning and once at night. Today was Martin Luther King Jrs birthday, which is a holiday in the U.S. . . On holiday schedule there are 12 hour shifts at work, so I worked 6am-6pm today. This morning I did give Ophelia her pellets and lettuce, but I forgot to grab hay before I left, stupid 5am half asleep brain. So I text my husband to give Ophelia hay.

I just got home and it is very obvious that he didn’t. He said he fell asleep after he dropped me off and forgot then left for work. Ugh, I’m trying not to be mad because he had to wake up at 5:15am to bring me to work, so I can’t blame him for falling back asleep… but still. Her litter boxes were like empty when I got home and all that was left was probably covered in pee.

Anyway, she did binkies all around me and ran around my feet when I walked in, which is normal for her. Super excited about her pellets and greens still and now she is in the litter box chowing down on some fresh hay. I’m sure she had some hay to eat throughout the day, since I give her two large piles the size of her twice daily. I guess I’m just worried that she didn’t eat for a few hours. Can stasis be a delayed reaction? Or is she probably fine because she’s still eating and very active?

If she’s eating it now and pooping then she’s fine, I wouldn’t worry

Glad to hear that! We’ve never had any tummy troubles and I’m just terrified of it. I didn’t know if the GI tract just slowed temporarily what kind of effect that might have..

Now to wind down with my mind at ease after a lonnnngggg day!

I’m sure she’s fine. My boys will go a few hours without eating anything simply because they are sleeping for large portions of the day.

Well, my rationale was that this was bad because when I am home on the weekend, I notice that she really doesn’t sleep all that much!

Perhaps it is only the weekend, I would have no way of knowing since I’m not home from 8-5 on the weekdays. But on the weekends when I’m home, Ophelia often seeks me out and may take short naps of 1-1.5 hours but is typically pretty active. I do spoil the crap out of her though and any time I’m home and she is looking at me just yearning for something, I might give her some bell pepper as a treat, or an oat twist, or a tablespoon of herbal blend, or a buckwheat chain, etc….ummmm the list goes on. I’m so bad, I should never have children cause I can’t say no to someone I love

So maybe she’s more active on the weekend cause she expects food from me, but I was worried because if she was so active during the day today, she’d have been left without good, clean hay for several hours!

Maybe I’m just a nutso bun mom… oh well

Yep I agree with everyone else, she should be fine

My fluffykins sometimes sleeps from about 11am – 4pm without moving from his spot… boy was that scary the first time it happened! Then he just got up, did a few stretches, couple yawns, sauntered over to his hay, had a nibble for 5 mins then went back to sleep for the next 2 hours hahaha!

I’ve noticed some days (most likely on the days he’s had less sleep the day before) he sleeps for hours and hours and hours. Other days he hardly gets a 30 minute nap in!

Ugh….husbands….Whenever I give my husband instructions to take care of the rabbits, something gets not done or done wrong. Not anything major but always something. I always leave a very detailed list……
