My bunny Cinnamon has been sneezing a bit over the last couple of days. Her appetite and activity level seem slightly lower than normal, but she’s fairly active and still excited about treats.

Obviously I worried about the snuffles. I can’t detect any sort of discharge from her nose or eyes. But I don’t know what this would look like. Do you know of any good pictures of what snuffles discharge looks like, so I can be prepared to look for it?

And what else could cause the sneezing? Allergies? A cold?

The odd sneeze isn’t something to worry about. Just like humans, bunnies can sneeze randomly. They also often stick their face in a bunch of hay so I imagine that might tickle and cause them to sneeze. Hay that is particularly dusty can cause sneezing too.

However, I’d be concerned about the fact that she so has lower appetite and activity level though. It could be nothing and just a coincidence but I’d probably get her checked out just to be on the safe side.

I agree with Sarah on getting her checked just to be sure. While waiting on the vet appointment I suggest to clean extra around her enclosure and every area she’s allowed to go, sweeping/vacuuming frequently and avoiding chemical soaps or scented sprays/room fragrances. Bunnies can be sensitive to dust and even to their own hair floating around during molt

Thanks!! I’ll clean up thoroughly, and if she’s still sneezing or has low appetite tomorrow, I’ll take her to the vet.

Update: After I cleaned up, she stopped sneezing, and is back to normal appetite/activity levels today.

Yay for no more sneezing! And… enjoy your new super tight cleaning schedule, I guess?
