        Hi All,

My rabbits currently eats Oxbow timothy hay which I always have been told even by my vets its the best hay for them, BUT my rabbits seems extremely fussy with it ever since i had to change him over from Wilkos meadow hay which is a UK brand i then tried burgess excel long stem feeding hay, which he seemed to like enough, but he leaves alot of his timothy hay, his poos are big and round but his having starting problems with his middle teeth starting to overgrow, I want to encourage him to eat more hay but I have tried everything i can think of and nothing seems to work

Any advice would be great for a fussy bun.

        Thanks guys Debs

I would try mixing it with the old hay and do a slower change over to the hay you want him to eat. You may also try Oxbow Orchard Grass and see if he likes it better.

Other tricks: put the hay over his pellets/fresh veg so he gets some hay when he is eating those items. Put the hay in his litter box if you don’t already, bunnies like to eat while they are using the litter box.

Timothy isn’t really the best. All grass hays are pretty much equal. The ‘best’ is simply something good quality that a bun will eat tons of! I would try different types of hay – orchard or oat for example. You don’t need to do a gradual change with hay. You can switch right away.

What things have you tried already to encourage him to eat?
