It’s like rabbits decide to only ever get unwell when the vets are closed
Today when I went to give the buns their nighttime pellets (at 12.30) yumi sprinted over like normal, but Peep didn’t. He was sitting in the corner in a hunched position looking unhappy.
I offered him treats, and he refused them.

I felt his belly, it was very doughy and disdended. He couldn’t get comfy, constantly readjusting and generally aggitated.

He allowed me to give him belly rubs, I syringed baby gas drops.
I waited to see if any interest in food came back, and when it didn’t I syringed fluids, and critical care.

After 3 hours he pooped and started eating, climbing on me and generally just acting completely fine. (Even tooth purring , which leads me to think his previous discomfort must be past)
It’s 4am here now and I’m thinking I’ll go to sleep until 7 am and then check how he is doing.

If he’s still acting fine in the morning should I still take him to the vet? My concern first and foremost is how much he hates being interfered with, which could make him sick again, what with stress, and secondly I don’t actually have the money (of course I can still get it together to get him treated if he’s not well in the morning) but I know some of these cases can be monitored from home.

I’m sorry if this doesn’t make sense, I’m very tired and my brain is barely functional

Sounds like he’s bouncing back. Keep treating with gas drops and observe.

I’ve been monitoring him over the last 24 hours and he seems to be acting completely fine, so hopefully this is behind us!
Think I’m going to catch up on some much wanted Z’s right now! ?

Glad to hear he’s eating and pooping . I think with stasis scares, it just depends on the bun and your previous experiences with him. For instance, how long and to what degree the signs of discomfort are, along with the latest food/water intake, will all affect whether I call the vet immediately. Under normal circumstances, I usually try the simethicone and some tummy rubs first. If Luna doesn’t respond within 30-60 minutes, then I know I probably need veterinary assistance. But that’s all based on her previous history and reactions. If her history reflected a fast and severe decline, then my reaction to stasis scares would be different.
