        Hi,
I almost hate posting this because I’m worried people will chastise me. My issue is that I have 9 house bunnies and I love them all dearly, but I am overwhelmed. Sometimes I think about rehoming some, but I’m concerned about finding good homes. My daughter’s hamster came from the pet store pregnant. We had to find homes for the baby hamsters. Two went to live with a co-worker of my sisters. Well, the hamsters got loose in her house and she never found them. That kind of.negligence makes me sick. So,when I think about rehoming any of my bunnies I get worried. Plus how would I choose? If any any of your have lots of bunnies like me, what is your cleaning routine? How much out of cage time do they get and how much one on one time with you? All but one is spayed or neutered. He is still too young. I have three pairs and three singles. I would love to hear from.others with lots of house bunnies and how you juggle it all. Just the garbage created from their litter boxes each week is more than my garbage can can hold.

          Welcome Amy

Just a quick post but I would like to come back to the thread when Im feeling a bit more functional!

I have 5 rabbits. 2 pairs and a single. I had a trio at one point, so a total of 6 in the one household. BUT –  I also had some fosters at one time along with my own and yeah… it was messy! Pubescent, unneutered buns, mostly males, separate enclosures, marking, spraying, digging and fllinging litterbox contents. I don’t know how I survived.

I also have some friends with lots of buns and I know they get very overwhelmed at times. They also had the same trepidation about others taking on the rabbits. I did too, and that’s why some of my fosters became permanents. It’s is easy to find yourself with more animals then you planned.

It’s great you have managed to get most of the desexed. That would make a difference and allows you to have pairs or groups. Is there a possibility on being able to pair up your single buns with each other? That cuts down on the individual habitats at least. Doesn’t make things necessarily neater though! My pairs are messier then my single boy.

As I said, I’ll come back to this thread but just wanted to say, Im glad you posted. I know of a lot of people that feel the same with their larger numbers but honestly, those buns are safe, secure, loved.

We do have some members that have numbers exceeding 10 (I think) and also other pets. However, they don’t post so much these days. :/

Wow, I can’t offer any advice really because I’ve only got two rabbits but I wanted to say you must have the patience of a saint! I can completely understand how overwhelmed you must be.

Why don’t you tell us your regular routine and we might be able to help make things easier?

                Hi!

That sounds like hard work! I don’t have any tips, but I wonder if you could try and create a group? At least it would be less individual areas to clean. I know someone with a very happy group of five, and I believe once you pass about five, adding more becomes easier.

Of course, committing to bonding that many is also time consuming and tricky, but I imagine they’re used to smelling each other already, so you might be able to try a group bond. I guess you know which ones are easy going etc.

I have three bunnies that are currently all living separately, and I find that overwhelming at times, so I can imagine it gets tricky for you. I rotate them out to run around in the same room as me, every half hour or so. One lives free roam in the kitchen. It’s a handful!

Can you start a compost heap for litter?
