Garden Select doesn’t have soy or wheat or cane molasses, ingredients that many pet owners are cautious of. Here’s a list of the ingredients in Garden Select:

Garden Select is just as good or better. 

There are slight differences, but mainly your rabbit’s preference will be the determining factor. Oxbow’s head veterinarian, Dr. Kohles addressed this question in a past Ask a Vet session. See the link below and look through the comments. He mentions this in one.

My bunnies prefer the garden select and I like the ingredients better From what I gather tho, oxbow essentials is still one of the better foods on the market.

But as with any food, remember to transition to avoid GI upsets! ?

I think I’ll stick with Essentials myself; Panda and Fernando are quite happy with it, though with their increasing sense of food security, they’re eating it a lot more leisurely over the course of a day than they used to. I’ve been cogitating on whether to try Garden Select, but when I was in Petsmart yesterday to resupply pellets (they have a 50% off on the second of any given item sale which is running through today), I looked at the ingredients and Essentials actually has more crude fiber than Garden Select, 25% min – 29% max for Essentials as opposed to 22% min – 26% max for Garden Select.

I bought Oxbow Essentials instead of Oxbow Garden because Essentials has higher fiber and lower fat than Garden.

Joe… if you have a Pet People near you compare their prices to PETSMART. I find PP are cheaper than PETSMART o OXBOW brands and PP has a frequent buyer card for both pellets and hay. Sorry about OFF topic. My PP will even order in particular Oxbow foods if they don’t carry it.
