Hi everyone! I am very worried.
My boy, Bigwig, has these strange, albeit rare, seizure-looking moments at times. It usually happens while he is eating, at least, those were the only times I have observed it.
First, his head usually starts twisting to one side, he may also lift his paw and close his eye(s). Obviously at this point he stops eating.
Then, his entire body seems to almost “freeze up” also twisting to one side. At this point he seems to have lost balance.
After that, today he started running around while he was still doing.. whatever that was, you know, the twisting thing. And all of a sudden… Poof! Balance regained, back to eating, he’s now stuffing his face with dinner, his head is also back in normal position. He just snapped out of it pretty suddenly.
This isn’t the first time I’ve seen it happen. It happened three times so far.
Been to the vet immediately after it happened the time before just now, she didn’t find anything, no ear infections, no tooth problems, nothing. She said that something (i.e. piece of food, a fly, a bug, perhaps) may have gotten in his ear and that’s what caused him to go nuts. He did have worms at the time, I believe, but I dewormed him quickly afterwards, no problems since up until now. It’s been about two months since that vet visit, I will be making another trip there soon to pick up the deworming meds.
Anyone have any idea what could be going on? Could it really just be that something has gotten into his ear, like a fly? Or perhaps it’s worms again?
Thanks for answers in advance.
EDIT: I am aware of binkies, and I know how they look like, but this is definitely not a binky! He stays on the floor during the “episode” and moves very slowly, if at all. He’s really just lying there. Again, things are back to normal now.
