First of all, that’s the kind of litter Syd uses.
^ (Just for reference!)
When we first got her it was suggested to let her pee on the newspaper we brought her home with, however she never did so, but I still put her newspaper in the litter with the grate thing OVER it. I have tried moving the litterbox to and from where-ever she has been deciding to pee but it seems to not be working. I have also been collecting the hay and newspaper used for bedding and placing it in the litter in an attempt to make Syd correlate the litter box with her urine and whatnot. She still hasn’t peed in the litter, but I think the grate on top is preventing her from smelling the litter? I tried rubbing the top of it with some of the stuff she’s urinated on to no prevail. She enjoys to hang out and sleep on the litterbox, perhaps because it is higher up? I’m still saving to have her spayed, and I’m still trying to find a vet that is qualified to do so. I did however read somewhere on the forums rabbits prefer to do their business on softer surfaces sometimes, should I try removing the grate for a bit to see how that goes? I’d prefer to keep it on so she is cleaner and doesn’t have to stand in her pee, that’s all.
Please help!!
Any suggestions are very much appreciated.
