I have two young rabbits I planned on fixing and keeping as a pair, Cinnamon Rabbit (cinnabun) and Dustin Rabbit (dust bunny). I have been keeping them separate until I can get them neutered/spayed but somehow had an accidental litter. Cinnabun had 6 kits Monday morning. When I found them she was eating one of the kits. Over the next few days all the babies died except one. The babies were obviously not eating.( thin lethargic dehydrated) The surviving baby was 33g at 1 day old and now is 5 days old and only 35g. The baby was eating about 2g at each feeding 2x a day. I ended up removing the baby from the cage after all the others died because cinnabun was stepping on and kicking the baby and would not feed it unless I tranced her and put the baby on her. I continued to feed the baby in this way but the baby is not gaining weight and tonight the weight before and after feeding was the same. I’m afraid that cinnabun is not producing milk anymore. I tried feeding kmr with a bottle and also with a syringe but the baby is not interested in it and didn’t seem to eat any. Please help.

I recommend you go to the forum Rabbits online http://www.rabbitsonline.net/ They have a section called the Rabbitry and Showroom, where you can find rabbit breeders and others that are more experienced with baby buns than most of us here have.

You can mix knew with a bit of cream, because rabbit milk is much fatter than most other milk. This is so the rabbit mama only has to feed the babies 1-2 per day.

Make sure baby is kept warm or else it can’t thrive.
