Hello everyone! Today clover and I had a negative pick up experience so I’m concerned we’re going to be set back some. That being said I’d really like to make the training a positive experience with treats. I know baby bun (8 weeks old) still has a sensitive tummy so fruits are out so what treats would you recommend for a bun her age? I’ve been trying to use alfalfa but since that’s part of her regular diet I worry it’s not really a “treat”. Thanks in advance.

I’d use her pellets as treats.

I believe you mentioned she wasn’t too into pellets in the past? You can do a small piece of romaine, though monitor after the first time to make sure she digests it well. Wick had small pieces of romaine twice daily since 9wo because I had to feed him probiotic powder for medical tx, and he handled it perfectly. Maye you can try this.

I made treats with banana for my 8 week rabbit and he was just fine. This is the recipe I used. http://www.geniuskitchen.com/recipe/bunnehs-bunny-rabbit-treats-331244

She didn’t eat pellets for the first couple days I had her but she is eating them now (whew!) but she still really favors her fresh hay. Maybe we can experiment with a little romaine when mom gets home from work. I’m just so paranoid haha hopefully after some time that wears off. What Can I say I just love my baby bun so much.

With veggies be careful and introduce one at a time slowly. So if you give romaine tonight, monitor her poops.

I give Luna and Atlas their regular pellets as treats, since they get so few it’s pretty exciting for them.

I’ve been giving Nimbus (about 13wo) small pieces of romaine as treats, and also dried petals and leaves from a Burgess ‘mountain meadow’ herb mix. Some bits he likes, some bits he’s not interested in. If babies are on unlimited pellets, they don’t really work as treats, but small bits of lettuce or dried herbs should be fine!
