          How old is he?

If he’s over 6mo and he’s a standard dwarf, he should only get about 1/4cup per day.

How much does he weigh? A suitable daily amount of pellets for my adult 4 lb dwarf bun is 2 tablespoons.

If your bun is young (below 6 months) he needs more pellets because he’s growing.

It is very easy to happen to feed buns more pellets than is good for them, though. Buns should eat lots and lots of hay, 80-90% of the adult bun’s daily food intake should be good quality grass hay.

Ohe I haven’t weighed him in a while but my guess is 4 pounds.

He is 3 years old and he stopped growing almost 3 years ago lol. Thanks I will feed him the right amount of pellets and lots of hay.

Panda and Fernando are both a bit over 3 pounds (Fernando weighs a touch more than his mom). They get a combined total of a little bit more than 1/4 cups of Oxbow Essentials timothy pellets per day, given as breakfast.

My bun only gets pellets as a snack. I give her about a tablespoon of good quality pellets a day or every other day. She gets 2 salads a day, and lots of hay. The vet is happy with that regimen .. especially because she tends to gain weight, and restricting the pellets helps with that.
I remember reading somewhere that adult bunnies don’t actually need pellets as long as they get unlimited hay and fresh greens. I could be wrong, but like I said, my vet is happy with it.

Unlimited grass hay is by far the most important component of a healthy house rabbit’s diet. In fact, some authorities say you can keep a bun fed well just on unlimited grass hay and fresh water, though most buns would probably find that boring in due course.

Especially for young rabbits, the pellets are needed for their nutritional components. Older rabbits, it’s debatable based on the rabbit’s health.
