I’m here with more “is it normal?” questions  My rabbit Polly Oliver used to be extremely active at dawn, running around her x-pen, throwing her toys, etc.  I would use earplugs to sleep through this as best as possible.  Lately, I’ve notice that she’s barely active in the mornings, which at first I thought was me being able to sleep through it better.  But now I’m sure it’s a change in her behavior.  When I wake up in the morning, she is usually resting in her cage (connected to the x-pen). She is a eight month old, unspayed doe.

Is it normal for rabbits to be less active in the winter?  The days are getting a lot shorter where I live.  Should she be getting less active at her age?  And is it possible that she is adjusting to my sleeping routine?  She plays more in the evenings.

        Should I be worried?

It’s normal for buns to become much more active in early spring, when the days get lonbger and the light gets stronger. Light works as a very potent signal. Even neutered buns can get hormonal in the spring. So yes, buns do tend to be less active during winter.

It’s also possible that she is adjusting a bit to your routines. They do that to an extent.

Huh, that’s interesting. I got her last spring so don’t have a way to separate “spring behavior” from “new baby bunny” behavior yet
