And he is out of surgery! Vet says they got the spurs in time before they had done any damage, usually what ends up happening is we go for his teeth check up and he is fine so we wait till the next one three months later and by the time that comes around there is slight injury from the spurs so got them earlier this time which is great! They have decided that we should just schedule him for surgery every six months or so to try and keep getting them before they start hurting.

He will stay at the vets till half five so they can try to get him eating but this is the bit that normally goes wrong lol and he will come home on his usual meds. his brother is anxiously waiting for him to return, he doesn’t quite know what to do with himself because he is alone he has not moved out of the dog crate all day which is unlike him, its very obvious he is missing Bramble.

Bramble is back home and he just isn’t right, in a different way from the way he normally isn’t right. I don’t know if maybe he is still a little groggy from the anaesthetic or something so don’t want to rush straight back to the vet – they are open till 10pm so I have a few hours yet if we need to go. He looks like his back legs are slipping away from him, we do have hardwood floors but he does not normally have this issue, he just struggled to hop into the litter box too! I don’t want to rush him straight back because he very well may just be groggy still but I am worried

I brought him out and carried him to the other side of the room, he hopped straight back absolutely fine so I’m thinking its just been residual grogginess but will definitely keep a good eye on him for a good few hours before going to bed. we are just about to give him his first syringe feed of the evening, usually I end up wearing more than he eats wish me luck!

he is too blooming clever for his own good, he can actually spit the food out! but I always look at it as when he is fighting us with the syringe feeding he is also moving about, moving about is a great thing therefore the whole ordeal is a good thing. That’s what I tell myself anyway

He is still not great today, he ate one treat but nothing else. so he can eat which is a good sign I guess. he is doing his usual ‘I’m not well so I’m going to lie down in the litter box’ that’s the only time he lies there. he is taking his meds fine, I think he is used to it now to be honest but he does not like critical care! It’s usually a different brand our vet gives us which he tolerates, all be it unwillingly but he does not like critical care at all! He is doing a wonderful job of spitting it straight back out but we are managing to get some into him. I have called the vets just to update them but we decided that the best they could do is syringe feed him and since we do that anyway and are used to doing so they are happy to wait for now. he has follow up on thur but if he doesn’t start eating reasonably normally today we will take him tomorrow instead. For now we are doing one syringe of critical care followed by a little baby food and repeat to try and give him something a little tasty, we mixed the cc with baby food but that did not fool Bramble, he knew exactly what it was and spit it straight back out again! He has done some poops, I haven’t seen him drink but he is getting plenty of water with the cc since we need to make it up quite thin to try and get him to take it, the thicker it is the easier it seems to be for him to spit out. I wonder how much more of this we can take, this is going to be every six months of his life at minimum for the rest of his life. I’m considering asking for his molars to be removed, but that seems extreme. I just cant put him through this all the time, his recovery is worse each time

We do it the same way we always have, syringe at the side behind his front set of front teeth. I honestly have no idea how he spits it out he never used to but the last few times he has learned a way to do it, mind you it is a different syringe which might not have as long a tip as the other type. I’ve got tonnes of syringes kicking about (I’m a nurse sometimes you end up putting these things in your pocket and forgetting about them lol) but they are all the wrong fitting so will need to do our best with this one. He has just taken a full syringe without too much fighting and I thought we were getting somewhere but then he started fighting again, its weird because he doesn’t fight the meds at all now so I definitely think he doesn’t like the critical care, I will ask the vet if they have any of the other stuff we used to get because it definitely wasn’t this much of a fight with that. I will let him rest for a while then try him with some veggies before I give him anything else, if I fill him up too much he obviously wont want to eat.

Its the oxbow, I think its Recovery Plus we used to get. He definitely does not like the current one that’s for sure! He has eaten about four nuggets on his own and maybe half a piece of broccoli but he is definitely getting his fight back! He jumped right out of the other halfs arms over his shoulder – and Bramble is normally scared of heights! (I know its ridiculous a rabbit scared of heights but he is) we will obviously keep feeding him for now but hopefully he will start eating little bits on his own at least. we will go to the vets tomorrow so they can give him more meds if he needs them. maybe he will eat some of his dinner in a few hours

He just ate some kale!

he really hasn’t eaten much, but he has eaten something just a few bits of kale and one bit of broccoli but I just put their dinner down and he is eating a few leafs just now. hopefully that’s a good sign and he will be back to normal tomorrow

He always gets his appetite back slowly and its always a huge worry because he has his fair share of tummy troubles too! I wouldn’t say he is 100% back to normal today but definitely on the mend, eating small amounts but fairly regularly so have cut back syringe feeding a good bit in the hopes that he will eat his full dinner if we are lucky. he is grazing on a few strands of hay here and there and has eaten a few leafs, last night he ate a few nuggets and maybe a half dozen bits of kale at bed time but of course he had his full days worth of syringe feeding yesterday so may just genuinely not have been hungry. we will stop syringe feeding a few hours before dinner tonight in the hopes that he eats normally, if not I will fill him up before bed when we give him his meds. He is 100% not a fan of this Critical Care!

I’m hoping we wont need anymore, will give them their dinner shortly and I am keeping everything crossed that he will eat it. if not I will try soaked pellets
