Fluffykins had his first ever vaccinations today at 1pn. It’s just past 7pm now.
Since we got home he’s been fully stationary, and jumpy. I’ve never seen him like this!
Car rides and being taken out don’t phase him, but having a stranger restrain him does. So while the appointment went perfectly smoothly, since home he hasn’t bounced back as quick as I thought he would. If you read my previous posts you’ll see fluffykins isn’t a typical bunny and he very very brave!
Anyway he didn’t want to eat a thing until about 5.30, and then he ate his daily portion of greens. I gave it much earlier then I do normally just to intice him to eat. I left them dripping wet just for the extra fluids.
He isn’t going into his cage part of his area (where his litter tray and water is) and I’ve given water outside here, but he doesn’t want to drink. Also not eating hay unless I hand feed it.
By now, he’s less jumpy, flopping, and happy to snuggle with me again. He’s even been grooming me (he groomed himself the second we came home haha).
I wonder if I should give him a second portion of greens right now as that’s the only thing he ate with relish. I worry only because I figured out this portion after weeks of trail and error: when he gets even a smidge over he produces many excessive cecotropes.
I’m worried if he doesn’t eat anything over night….
He’s also just very quiet and sleeping. He’s taken a few hops around but not like his normal energetic self. I’ve never seen him so nervous before, as he was when we first got home. Don’t forget this is a bunny that’s met loads of “strangers” in the form of my family, friends, in-laws etc and flops (and eats) in his carrier as I carry him around outside. This was his second ever vet visit (but millionth car / outside journey).
Edited to add: he hasn’t pooped or peed at all since we left for the vets. Normally he poops on journeys out but the vets is close by so I’m not surprised he didn’t poop then; however I am surprised it’s now half 7 and he hasn’t gone yet.
