I have two bunnies and they have a 64 square foot play pen that they spend most of their time in. I have bought and made toys for them, Willow baskets, sticks, cardboard tubes stuffed with things, hay rollers, balls, hanging toys, and a lot of cardboard boxes. They ignore all of them, except or chew on the sticks. What can I do or make so they will play?

Some rabbits don’t play with “toys”. Wick doesn’t chew or play with anything.

Only item of concern is if it’s a behavioral change where they used to, but now they don’t. If that’s the case, there may be something I’ll healthwise making them hesitant to relax and play.

Some bunnies just dont play. And I’ve noticed certain breeds as a whole tend to play more than others, my flemish doesn’t play with toys so I incorporate food into his toys to get him to use them. For example I stuff his willow balls with greens to get him to chew thru them to get to the leafy goodness. Or put his pellets in a cardboard toilet paper tube for him to chew thru that and throw it around to get the pellets out. A good thing to buy for your buns may be some of the logic toys, or one of the dog treat balls that they have to roll around to get their pellets out. I plan to get some logic toys next week. You could also use dixie cups and hide treats underneath them so they have to flip them over to get to them. Also try tube’s buns seem to love them, and card board houses.

How old are they? My buns are older and don’t play. They haven’t for a long time.
