Hey guys! So I’ve had my bun for about 5 n 1/2 years and she has somewhat decent litter habits, not perfect but she goes in the general area of her litter box. Well she occasionally would pee on my bed but it was a once in awhile kind of thing when I think she was mad at me for being gone from home too long or something. Recently tho she has been constantly peeing in my bed near the pillow area, for the last 2 weeks it’s been like 6 times. It generally happens when I’m asleep?? So I have no clue why she is doing it. I don’t want to restrict access to my need because she has always been on my bed, she is a free roam bunny but mostly stays in my room and at night and in the morning we cuddle, which is another reason I don’t want to restrict access cuz my favorite part of the morning is cuddling with her <3. But last night in the middle of the night I woke up to pee right next to me and it even got onto me I have no clue why she is doing this for her age. I tried to read about it but a lot of people refer to it being a younger rabbit. But she isn’t and rarely ever did this before, anyone know what’s going on?

I’d have her checked for urinary tract infections, those might cause pee accidents in buns. Maybe she just chills out by you for a long time and then when she has to pee she can’t keep it in?

Hey! So when she was younger she did have a urinary tract infection. I’m positive this isn’t that because she would be matted with pee and is clean all over. Basically she is doing it on purpose for whatever reason. She does sleep next to me occasionally I think but mostly she either sleeps at the bottom of the bed or in a chair I roll up next to the bed for her, that’s her “spot” haha. Part of me thinks she’s mad at me for some reason but if she was mad would she still come over to cuddle? Pls during these cuddle sessions at night and in the morning she generally spends awhile grooming me too. Even after the nights she peed on my bed.

I wonder if there’s any discomfort. Wick’s number one way to express discomfort is peeing outside his box in typical places (sofa, by door ways). Anything odd behavior wise?

Is she spayed? Even if so, it would be worth getting her checked out. But especially if she isn’t, 5 and 1/2 is a common age for cancer to appear in rabbits, which can affect all sorts of hormones. I don’t mean to freak you out and certainly don’t jump to that conclusion, I’m just offering up options. A urinary tract infection would certainly be a more common reason, also the change in seasons can sometimes cause behavioural changes like this.

Have you changed anything in your room recently? Rearranged furniture etc. Do you have a new pet, or person living in the house? Have you changed washing powder or perfume? Different smells can also trigger marking behaviours.

Yes, she was spayed long ago, within the first year I had her. You can usually tell when a rabbit has a urinary tract infection because they will have pee accidents and the pee will be all over their feet and bums, which isn’t the case here since she is clean. I don’t recognize a change in behavior really. The only change on my end is that I put up Halloween decorations in my room starting last Friday. But she was peeing on my bed before then. My fiance comes over on the weekends and sleeps on the side of the bed that she’s been peeing on but she doesn’t do it when he’s here (probably because we are both taking up space on the bed so she can’t). Well I’m hoping it’s just a temporary thing, I guess I’ll she if she continues to do it next week.
