  Hi all! Thyme and I recently visited the bunny doctor for the first time! I just needed to get established with a local vet but she’s also been a little sneezy and had some discharge on her nose. Thanks to all research I did and all you knowledgeable folks, I knew to take her in right away–thank you! (She did pretty well considering she hates the car and some strange lady kept poking at her! I love my brave little bun.)
  
  I know I was curious before I went to the vet what the costs would be like. (You always hear horror stories about vet bills.) So I thought I’d share in case anyone else is interested. The search function isn’t working for me to find similar posts so admins, feel free to relocate this or remove if necessary!
  
  The exotic animal exam was $76 (but they had a first visit discount) and an extra lab test was $30. Her antibiotics from a compounding specialist (yay for yummy bananas!) was $45. I live in Rhode Island where things tend to be pricier (in my experience). I don’t know if anyone wants to add their experience or if this will be helpful but there you go! Lol

  That’s around what Wick’s exams and medications were, so seems natural. Wick’s vet is on the pricier side, so it lines up.
  
  Keep strict to the antibiotic regimen.
  
  How old is your rabbit and were you given probiotics? If Thyme is young and no probiotics were given, I’d call to request.

  Similar to my vet. Exam is $55, biopsies (without anesthesia) were $60, eye pressure test was $40, eye ulcer stain was $30, sub-Q is $25 and meds have ranged from $10-50. Then when Rabby died, the day’s hospital stay was $90 and cremation was $75. It’s not a ton in small amounts, but I’ve spent $1500+ in the last few months between 3 sick bunnies and a neuter.

  Wick: Thyme is about 4 years old and seems to be doing fine with the antibiotics so far! I have a checklist to make sure I don’t miss any doses.

  Keep an eye out for digestive issues. Antibiotics can manipulate the gut biome in a rabbit’s stomach, leading to gas problems or worse.

  Oh yeah, I forgot the really expensive ones! A blood test ran me $150 and X-rays were $160.

  My vet charges $40 for an exam. If it’s a follow-up visit, it’s $26.
