For the past 3 weeks Asriel has finally started to seem comfortable with us, after 5 months. It has been amazing to see his personality, and to see how loving he has become. He constantly climbs on my lap and begs to be pet and kissed. That being said, Asriel loves to climb on me for treats. Whenever he climbs on me to eat he makes a grunting type noise. Is this normal? Anyone else experience this?

Is it grunting or honking? Grunting is usually because they are not very happy whereas honking is happy/excitable. Buttercup grunts at the broom and Peanut honks at Buttercup when he’s especially randy lol

Neither one of my buns have ever been vocal. So I’m not quite sure. It’s like a throaty sound. It’s so odd to explain. He’s very excited during it.

I think I know the sound you are referring to. My Olivia used to do something similar when given food/treats. Was never sure if it was an excited “Yay treats” or a warning “This is Mine” since she was very possessive. It was adorable, regardless. She was a very vocal little girl. I miss her little noises.

Yep, Thor does the same thing at treat time (sigh, she has an unhappy tummy right now so I hope to hear this sound again soon). It’s something like a grunt, but not quite. I know her angry grunt because she can be a little territorial diva when I get too close to “her” space, that sound is more high pitched than the treat grunt. At treat time, she’ll tear around our feet grunting every now and then, closest approximation I can write: “gruuuph”. It’s particularly cute and alarming when she will bolt at someone holding a treat from across the room, she’ll usually run headlong into your ankles making a little grunting sound

Does it sound like pig throat oinking? Wick does that during food time….. little piggie.

Thor: I hope your little one gets better! Sending lots of vibes from me and my buns!

Yes she is much better thanks I’m back to feeling like I’m feeding, and mucking out the stall of, a small horse. Strange joys of a bunny parent…

Clover honks at me every morning while she’s digging at me and slobbering on my shirt. it’s a happy “I love you” noise.
