  Hi guys, so i just dropped Bella to the vet about 5 hours ago and soon will be picking her up. I’m just worried and wanna know if she is ok. The vet is savvy and i’m hoping he did the surgery well.
  
  I put some hay in her carrier and a comfy blanket for her to warm up after surgery. I also brought the water bowl to the vet. I’m not really comfortable clipping Mile’s claws so i brought him to the vet in his carrier too. He was feisty and fought with the vet’s assistent and she cut his quick instead of the nail. This is the 2nd time he fought like this. Vet put some, i believe, styptic powder? Yeah, and Mile cleaned his small wound afterwards. Bella got really stressed in the car and didn’t wanna eat the hay.. Before we leaved, I quickly just scattered some hay in the carrier and she didn’t have time to eat that much and that’s when she got stressed out in the car so i’m just hoping she atleast ate in the clinic a bit.
  Any tips for after surgery care?

  Just give her space and somewhere to hide if she wants to be alone, but keep an eye on her eating and drinking and toilet habits. Give her some food that she really likes to tempt her.
  
  Also, if you have 2 bunnies, just keep an eye on them if they are together. My male, Gus, will be lovely to Ethel when she is sick, but Ethel will attack Gus if she detects weakness! (He’s under the thumb). She’s got a chunk out of her ear where he eventually fought back though, so has learned her lesson!
  
  So if you don’t know their personalities around illness that well, just keep an eye on them together for a few hours before leaving them

  I have put a bottle filled with hot water, wrapped in a blanket to keep her warm. I have heard few times that she loudly grinded her teeth. When we got back from the vet, i gave her some pellets and she ate just three, she also nibbled approximately two strands of hay.
  
  I’ll wait for her to heal and then bond them. Even though my boy is neutered ,I don’t want him pulling out her stitches or anything. Oh, i do have a hidey house but i put Bella in Mile’s old cage and it isn’t as big as the new big cage i dedicated to them so i wouldn’t have enough space for a hidey house cause i keep the hot water bottle there.
  
  I gave her some Critical Care but she refused it. I just did a small squirt out of the syringe and she was like “It’s nice but.. i don’t wanna eat this!”
  I haven’t noticed her drinking water at all.. Also, i didn’t want to carry her cause i didn’t want to cause any additional pain so I just tried syringing through the cage bars.
  I don’t want her to dehydrate! What can i do, syringing through the cage deffo won’t do anything cause she’ll just back away.

  Can you try mixing some water with apple or pineapple juice? Mine tend to be more tempted by that in a syringe. Also, try soaking some pellets in water and putting them in front of her. It’s a good way to get food and water in at the same time if she won’t eat the critical care from the syringe.
  Also, soak a load of greens (fresh herbs are good as they smell strong) in water, and put them in front of her too. Then leave her alone for a bit to see if she will pick at them.
  
  If she hasn’t touched anything in a few hours, you may kneel on the floor and hold her between your legs (to avoid having to pick her up), hold her head still and syringe the critical care in the side of her mouth. It’s not nice, but needs to be done. Hopefully won’t come to that though.
  
  When mine had their spay, they were very quiet and sorry for themselves for the first few hours. They did pick at food eventually though.

  I don’t have pineapple juice around but i don’t think i’ll be needing it. She is already better, got to her hay rack and ate some hay. She also ate some of the pellets i gave her.
  I did soak pellets and them mashed some banana in and she didn’t like it that much. I looked and looked, couldn’t remember where did i put the critical care so that’s why i syringed the pellets first. Later i found the bag and she hesitated at that too. I’m going to the vet tomorrow for a check up. She didn’t try pulling out the stitches yet but will look after her wound. Thank you so much for the advices! Also, do i need to juice the juice (lol) from a pineapple/apple, like so it’s natural? I wouldn’t give the store bough juices though cause Of added sugars?

  As long as she is eating again now, she should be fine. When i give any apple or pineapple juice, i always buy the 100% juice (from the refrigerator section, not the cartons, as they are full of sugar – just check the labels, you should be able to find something). However, water is best. That’s just an option to try to get them to drink as a last resort. One other thing you can try is flavouring the water in their bottle by adding a sprig of mint or some cucumber or whatever else they like.
  
  But i think that now she is eating, she will drink on her own when she is thirsty. Keep an eye out, but i think you can probably relax a bit now
