As some of you know, I have a female cat, Holly (12 years), a male rabbit, Cincinnati (5-6 years) and a female rabbit, Daisy (3 years). All of them are neutered and have been since I got them.
On Tuesday morning the rabbits were out and about when I heard digging in Holly’s litter box. It didn’t sound like her. I went to look and saw her sitting ~3′ from her box. Her head was down and she looked sad. Daisy dug to the bottom of her box and urinated on the plastic. I told her to get out of the box matter of factly – I don’t want her to decide using litter boxes in general is bad.
She promptly did, but she foot flicked at me, and hopped into the bathroom, where she proceeded to circle the toilet and periscope up to see the lid. I swear she wanted to ‘go’ in my ‘box’ too! I had to herd her out of the bathroom.
Daisy weighs half of what the others do. Her litter box skills remain otherwise impeccable. I bought Holly a replacement box.
Has anyone else experienced something like this? I feel like some sort of weird bunny coup d’état was attempted, and I have no idea why. I’m in good health and Holly has been experiencing better health over the past few months than she has in years.
