So I have two netherland dwarfs brothers. One is named yuki other haru. They will be getting neutered in three weeks asthey will be 4 months old. My buns during the day roam pretty freely with supervision. At night we put them in a big run like 5×5 feet that also attaches to and extra store bought cage so they have a big space. Yuki started off rattling the cage at night to prob get atention and to be let out. We thought we would buy a bigger area and the prob would stop. That didn’t work and now they both rattle the cage to get out. When i do let them out they wanna sit on the couch ,watch tv for 10 mins then go back in the cage on their own. We have to keep our bunnies in our room so putting them in a dif location will not work. Does anyone have a solution to fix this prob until i can let them roam free all the time? The neuturing i’m hoping will lessen some on their distructive behavior enough to let them be free roaming.

You can prevent cage rattling by putting a wall on the interior of the pen, like tie cardboard over the bars. You can also make the pen more appealing by freshening their hay, water, and food before putting them in.

Their cage and run is cleaned everday as well as given fresh water and food. My buns eat cardboard so that won’t work. I have seen some plasic like stuff that people use in their cages but I can’t get that product here in the netherlands.

I don’t have great suggestions, unfortunately. A friend suggested putting in a treat they especially like when you want them to be quiet, but that might train them to keep up this behavior. It also may go away on its own – I think my rabbit doesn’t do this nearly as often anymore. But it’s also possible I just got used to it. TBH I decided to let my rabbit win this round and just bought myself a bunch of earplugs.
