        Hey Everyone,

As my bunnies are growing older (~5 months now), I’m starting to think about weaning them off of alfalfa hay soon. Right now, I give them about half alfalfa and half hay that I bought from a local store. Going forward, I’m wondering if it is okay for me to feed alfalfa hay to my bunnies as a treat. They really love it and it seems to be a good treat for them.

My question is if it’s okay to give them a couple leaves/stalks everyday as a treat. I’ve heard things like bunnies should never get alfalfa hay after they are mature. Could someone advise?

        Thanks!

Some people say that alfalfa should not be give to adult rabbits, but others think it’s okay for them to have as an occasional treat in small quantities. About once a week, I sprinkle a little bit of alfalfa on top of my rabbits’ grass hay.
