Hi there,
So Binkie is molting right now and has had a history of GI Stasis. He’s been acting very normal, but I got up last night to use the bathroom and he ALWAYS comes in to say no matter what time of night, but he didn’t come in. So worried, I went and he was in a hunched position and his belly felt very bloated. There was some gurgling sounds at first when I was trying to massage him, I then got him greens and he ate them right away. And in the morning he seemed fine personality wise, he was excited to see me and was honking and he ate his breakfast, but his stomach still feel very bloated. I also felt a small lump in his stomach, but maybe that’s bjist another organ I’m feeling? I saw him drink water and is is eating hay and pellets as well. Usually when he’s had GI Stasis, he completely stops popping, but he is still pooping – not as frequent as normal though. So that’s why I’m concerned that it’s something else. I was reading about Bloat, which made me sick to think he could have it. I did find him chewing a bit of the under boxspring material, so I’m worried about that, but he is also shedding very heavily. He’s acting perfectly normal, other than his stomach feeling bloated. I can tell he is definitely in some discomfort though. I’m just so worried because this will be going on the thrd day, I’ve been waking up every 2 hours to check on him through the night tonight (he’s currently drinking water as I’m typing). The horrible part is, my whole province does NOT have one single vet that’s trained in rabbits. So taking him to the vet isn’t really a sure bet. But maybe worth getting medication?
I’m just wondering if anyone has any thoughts or suggestions. He’s currently taking oxbow digestive chews for almost a year now, which have helped significantly. But would Papua enzymes be helpful? Just worried to do anything to make it worse. And does anyone have expiernce with Bloat? I know the symptoms can be similar to GI Stasis. I’m HOPING AND PRAYING it’s gas and will pass – I’m sick with worry. Any advice would be so appreciated.
Thanks,
Tate
