Hi guys!
This morning I let my bunnies outside to run around in their large outdoor run in all the grass and sunshine. Usually, this is perfectly fine and none escape (except Hermione, but she knows to come when I call and mostly just runs around until she gets bored and follows me around until I put her back in the run).
This morning, however my baby brother got outside and opened their cage, immediately scattering them around the whole yard. It took me nearly half an hour to get all of them back inside and Fred was the hardest to catch because he’s so shy and skittish. When I finally did catch him I noticed his heel was bleeding pretty badly, half his foot was matted with blood. Of course now I feel terrible because I’m pretty sure I chased him too hard, he got scared and now he’s hurt.
He’s always had very sensitive heels but they’ve never bled before. I washed it with warm water, wrapped it up with a cloth and fed him a few treats until he was calm and happy. He keeps trying to chew and kick it off because naturally he’s pretty uncomfortable. I added bedding to his cage so his other heels don’t get worn down any more and he doesn’t like that much either he keeps pushing it away before he lays down. Anyone have any suggestions? Should I take him to the vet? Should I be freaking out this much? Is it okay to leave the bandage on or should I take it off?
All suggestions and comments are VERY appreciated I like to hear lots of different opinions. Thanks you guys!
