Hello. I have been following the forums for a while now but I’m not sure that I have seen this specific question. Since this is a diet and care forum, I will ask both questions together. So, I am a first time bunny mom and I am getting an eight week old broken tort holland lop next Saturday. His name is Jax. Here are my questions…
Diet
I plan to get bales of hay from the farm stores where I live. I just happen to live in a small town that has 3, 1 of which is tractor supply but I only plan to get the horse stall pellets from there. The hay bales that the other stores have are labeled as Timothy, Timothy Orchard, 1st cut Timothy Alfalfa, 2nd cut Timothy Alfalfa, Timothy Orchard Alfalfa, Alfalfa 2 string, and Alfalfa 3 string. Since Jax is so small I know he will need the Alfalfa but I have no clue what 2 string and 3 string means. Any insight on which would be best?
Care
Since Jax will be so small when I bring him home, I am wondering if I should take him to the vet for a check up or if I should give him some time to adjust first? I can take him on the Tuesday or Wednesday after I bring him home but I didn’t want to stress him out any further if I can help it. What are your thoughts on taking Jax to the vet so soon?
Thank you in advance for the advice!
