This is such a tragic thing to happen. Im very sorry you lost your bunny this way.

I know this is probably playing over & over in your mind and is extrememly hard to deal with. But do continue to remind yourself it was an accident. You are not

 a monster.  

 It’s clear your and your girlfriend love your rabbits. She had too short a time with you but while she was yours, she was loved. That’s what is important and might help to focus on.


It would still be so raw and it’s understandable you would be feeling terrible. I would even seek out a counsellor that deals with loss of pets to talk with,. The animals are so much part of the family for many people and the grief when they’re gone can impact greatly.

Again, my condolence to you and your girlfriend. I hope your other bunny is doing okay.

For all bunny owner, please be careful when walking if you let your bunnies loose on the home. Let my accident last night be a reminder to you all.

I just want to add, it is good of you to write this to remind others. Even with an awareness, things can happen unfortunately. I know Ive had some falls over pens and been lucky one of the rabbits wasn’t hurt. Im glad you do acknowledge here that it was an accident.

So sorry for your loss. Accidents do happen. I’m sure we’ve all done it and just been very lucky, i know i have. Cats tail, dogs foot, bunnies get in the way.
Think about getting another friend for Wiwi…. it will help Domskii’s passing a bit…

Oh my.  How incredibly heartbreaking. I feel for you all.  I think many bunny owners can relate to the fear of this happening.   I know it wasn’t easy to share this and it may be too hard for some people to read all the way through, and if they do, they may not respond as it’s just too hard for them to. 

It is a good reminder for all of us.  I am just so so very sorry it happened to you.   

It was a terrible accident — but an accident no less.  It doesn’t take away the pain. It will take some time for you and your girlfriend to deal with this. It certainly is normal to feel so sad.

It was an accident. You didn’t do anything purposeful to cause your rabbits death because you loved her. What happened was beyond your control and the fact that you are so sad means that you are a human being. A warm and loving human being who got the amazing honor of caring about a rabbit who left too soon. I am a Native American so I believe in the afterlife and things of the spirit.

The day after my bunny died I wondered if I would ever see a sign from her- that she understood and forgave me. I thought maybe because she was so quiet and unobtrusive that even if she did send me a sign I might miss it. I was thinking this as I walked my dogs and went past a big patch of monkey grass where my Husky likes to wade. And sure enough, a little wild cottontail burst out of the grass and almost scared me to death. She ran across the patio- across the furniture and flicked off into the woods. So I stood there and laughed and thanked my sweet bun. She is still with me. Yours, too.

I hope you find some comfort in my story. Guilt can hinder grief and make it go on for longer. Don’t do that to yourself. You’ve suffered enough. *internet hugs*

I am so glad you have opened your hearts and home to another bunny. I’m sure Domskii is glad a new rabbit will get to experience the wonderful life you gave him.

I’m very sorry for your physical loss. I say physical, because I truly believe we’ll see our bunnies again. I’m sure Domskii sees a heart full of love. Let him rest on it by not feeling guilty.
