Hello bunny lovers! many of you searching through these forms seem to be first time bunny bonders. Because of this, I have a great tip to help you prepare yourself for how a bunn will react in a bonding situation. I, as well as some bunny veterans, like to find an animal shaped stuffed animal (preferably rabbit like), and stuff it with fur or keep it in the bunnies enclosure till it smells like them. After it’s nice and smelly, I introduce the fake bunny to the potential husbund or bunwife. You would be surprised how many bunnies that i’ve pegged for the calm type, go absolutely nuts when the fake rabbit is introduced. This step also helps prepare first time bunny bonders to the shock of seeing an aggressive bonding session. This technique is also a great way to introduce smells during the pre-bonding process.

As a side note: just because a bunn may react aggressively to the fake bunn, not all hope is lost. This means you have to be extra patient and be extra careful when doing the first time introductions. Also, a calm reaction to the fake bunn doesn’t mean your bunn will react the same way to the real bunn so always be on your guard and gear up to be ready to seperate during a bonding session.
