  Hello, so well I’ll explain to you the whole situation here.. during the end on June and the beginning of July of this year my rabbit had GI Stasis. I took her to the vet several times in which they have her fluids and medicine, she later got better and has been a happy bunny, she is also an outdoor bunny and I usually let her out to eat or runaround the house at about 8:00am every morning, for a while until now. This morning at about 3:30am I woke up and realized that she was in a hutched position (also lethargic) under my bed, there still food and water in her bowls so that meant that she hasn’t eaten and usually she finishes the food up by then. I took a look at her and realised that she looked uncomfortable and little noises are coming from her stomach (I don’t know if it’s because of hunger or because of the problem) and she would dig on the carpet, so I moved her a little so she could get out from under my bed to see if she was actually sick, she did move out but ran to the living room and hid behind the seat couch where she usually spent most of the time at back in June-July.
  Also I don’t know if this could be of use but maybe around July 15th she would make a chewing sound, like when she eats, but it sounded different from the regular chewing that she used to do.
  
  I really don’t know what to do right now.. it’s around 5:30am in my area and I’m a little afraid that this could mean that she could die..
  
  I’ve been calling local emergency vet clinics and they all have recommended me to have her get looked at as soon as possible (but I don’t know if I should wait until tomorrow Monday for her vet to see her instead).
  
  I still have some of that pain medication, critical care, and Metronidazole 500mg that they gave me back then but I’m not sure if I could still give her that..
  
  Should I let her go outside as usual today? Is it ok to give her that medicine still? Can I wait till Monday for her regular vet to see her? Please help me out, I will really appreciate it

  You can give the pain med if it’s Metacam. It sounds like she could have gas. It’s good she ran a little, try to make her move around some more if you can. You can also try a little bit of very gentle massage like I. This Mary S Cotter video:

  Try to keep her warm, feel her ears, if they’re very cold she needs warming up. Do you have baby gas drops (simethicone)?

  You can find infant simethicone at any drug store. It’s also in grocery stores in the baby section or in discount stores like Walmart, Target, Kmart. The brand I use is Mylicon. There will be an applicator in the package or you can use one of your syringes. The skinny kind is what you will use. Give 1-2 ml every hour for 3 hours. You can continue with it after 3 hours, but if it hasn’t helped by then, it probably won’t help. Usually just one dose works for my bunnies that have had gas. I’ve never had to give more than 2 doses.

  Alright, thank you bam and tobyluv! I’ll look for those drops today and give her the dose(s) and hopefully she’ll feel better.
  
  I just sometimes become really panicky since I almost lost her those two months ago..

  If the emergency vets have told you she should be looked at ASAP, why won’t you take her? If the gas drops don’t help, I wouldn’t hesitate.

  I’ve been thinking about it and I think I should.. I’ll just first try out the drops and if that doesn’t work then I’ll immediately take her to the vet.

  She should feel better 20-30 minutes after you’ve given the drops, especially if you can make her move around a little bit. If she doesn’t feel well enough to eat a treat after that, take her in, because then she needs treatment you can’t give at home.

  I took Runaway later that day to an emergency vet since she didn’t want to eat still. What the vet told me was that her tummy felt normal, she wasn’t in pain either but her stomach wasn’t making any of the sounds a normal bunny tummy would make. The thing she had was that her digestive system just stopped causing her not wanting to eat and not being able to poop. They gave her fluids and some meds, and also an x-ray showing that her stomach was full of food but it wasn’t going through the normal digestion. They told me to just monitor her and give her food (plus some critical care) and see if she later starts responding.
  
  Earlier today though, she pooped a normal amount but they were both small and dry AND she ran to my room, meaning that she wanted to go outside I’ll keep on monitoring her and giving her those radishes leaves that she loves. It’ll be a little warm over here so I’ll bring her in before the heat strikes.
