I won’t necessarily call it odd behavior but I just got my new bun, Charlotte, today and she is a retired show bunny and she also did a lot of therapy work with kids and elders, she is super used to being handled and loved. she is warming up to me and her new environment very nicely and quickly, I just don’t know what some of her behavior means and if someone could tell me that would great. (Btw she is a jersey wooly)

She will be in her cage and I’ll sit in the middle of my floor so she can come up to me, but she will come up to me and start nudging then when I pet her she’ll run back to her cage, she doesn’t dart, she just hops back normally, she does it every single time though

The other thing is, she will let me pet her when she is just laying their, she doesn’t seemed to be bothered by it when I approach her

The only thing is she’ll be lopped over, and laying down and relaxing and I’ll go to pet her and she move into a bun loaf, I don’t think she gets nervous, it’s just odd, cause again she does it every single time

Sounds like shes not completely used to being out of her age yet, but she wants your attention Offer her some pets more often when you see her in her cage.

My bunnies dont like to be pet in flop position. I dont know why. Like yours, if they start in flop and I pet them, they will move to loaf. I just assume it feels better for them

Sounds to me like she is curious about you hence her approaching and nudging you but she’s not fully comfortable yet so she moves when you pet her.

Neither of mine stay in flopped position if I pet them so I tend to just leave them be when they’re flopped.

Nudge may mean a request for attention or telling you to move.
